I just received my hardcover copy of The Seventeenth, and I have to say that it feels really nice, so much better than the soft-cover copy, and the cover image looks better. See the comparison, (and the yu-yake iroshizuku pilot ink for my fountain pen).
I read the opening page from my main character, Miriam, and enjoyed it: Alone in her antique store, Miriam leaned on the counter and wrote in her diary with shaking hands. Moved to Two Rivers today. Changed my name, It seems like a safe place. Graham won’t find me here. Emotions twisted within her, and tears stained the freshly inked words. She stared at the box at her feet, the one she should have handed to the police as evidence, or burned it, but neither would bring back those beautiful women. If she came forward, Graham would only use it to destroy her, too. Nobody would take her word over an influential doctor’s. Who was she kidding? He would find her. Eventually. He’d already told her, if she tried to leave, he would hunt her down and kill her. Yet here she was, defying him…
Twenty-six is too young to live like this…
