Book nook in the Gawler town clock tower

This morning, on the way to the Institute Building to write some more of my psychological thriller , aka the “Dark Voices” novel, I strode past a book nook, and it looked quite inviting at the base of the town clock tower that formed part of the early post office and overland telegraph station. I’d never seen it before, so not sure how long it has been used like this. The clock in the tower was funded back in 1867 and the eastern face has an IV instead of a VI for 6, but you can’t see it from the main road because it’s the western side. Given it was raining, it was nice to see the books were safe in their nook, which was likely to have been a doorway at one point in it’s life. Anyway it’s a nice looking building, and I did get to spend the morning at the 1871 Institute Building sitting at the large table in the reading room writing, .surrounded by the enormous oil paintings and looking outside at the gloomy weather. I wrote some more of “Dark Voices” and for those counting, I only wrote 700 words today, but it was a nice technical scene about trying to find a criminal, so a little fun, and at this point I’m trying to set everything up for the ending that I’ve already written. I’ve got a few more scenes before the first draft is done.
