Well, I’ve done it. I took some vacation time so that I could update my fantasy novel that had recently been read by a very kind first reader, and the manuscript came back with some really great suggestions. So I spent the first part of my break making all the suggested changes and fixing it up. And now that’s done, I’ve sent off the work to a few select agents that I’ve had my eye on for a while now. I’d be thrilled if they represented me, but that’s the dream of all writers. I’m not sure how it will go, but I’m told finding a great agent can be as fickle as finding a publisher for your work. However, it seemed like the right thing to do. Why else do we write stories if nobody can read them? Anyway, having done that, I’m about to start looking at a second pass of the second novel in the same fantasy series. It will be a little while before I do the edits on what I wrote for the third and fourth novels in the series, but having a quick read, they do need polishing after 17 years of neglect.

And on the same fantasy theme, I recently had two short fantasy stories around climate change accepted for an up and coming anthology, and over the past few weeks have been doing the edits to the two connected stories and writing up bits for the release. More on the details of who and when soon. It’s been fun, and after my long PhD hiatus, feels great to be very focused on writing once more.
