I have to say that I am thrilled to have had this story accepted for publishing by AntipodeanSF in their 500 word category.  Everyone knows what I think about the awesome efforts of their Editor Nuke (aka Ion Newcombe).  AntipodeanSF publish some really excellent stories.  This one was a move away from my usual science fiction to a slightly more mainstream style.  So look out for The Wood Moths in Issue 132 out mid May 2009.

I recently applied to join the Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine Cooperative.  I thought what the hell – the worst thing they could do was say no – but they said yes.  Go figure.  So far it’s been a blast, great people, great stories and you get to see the results of the effort pretty quickly.  So far I’ve done a bit of slush reading, fired off nominations for awards, attempted to get involved in the next magazine issue, but mostly just trying to learn the ropes of publishing Australia’s BEST Spec Fic Magazine there is.

The team are pretty awesome too.  I’ve got a link to the right of this blog.  Click on it and have a look for yourself.

I took a break from work recently to travel to the West for a relatives wedding.  Just to set the scene – weather… perfect, mild 28 degrees Celsius, all you can eat cocktails outside under a pergola with vines growing over it,  happy folk (it was a wedding after all) and the dynamic and sweet sounds coming from the wedding singer, Morgan – or should I say MissimoJo.

Morgan is far from what you would expect at a wedding, she is superb, and we were lucky to have her as background for about four hours.  I have to say that she stole the show and we were fortunate to walk away with one of her CD’s which gets played to death!

All I can say is that IF you need or want some music that will impress, if you want some sweet dulcet, gritty and awesome talent, no matter where you are in OZ, or if your overseas, go and purchase her music – chase her up – fly her anywhere in OZ.  Live she is a treat, and then some.  As music from a CD she is almost as good, but I would say that if you can offer her any amount to sing in person – you won’t repeat, WON”T be disappointed.

And if you don’t believe me, go and visit her web site, have a read of the acts she has supported.  I’ll say it now – she is going places!  Get hold of her while you can!

And if that’s not enough, here is a link to her site…www.missimojo.com

and if that is not enough here are some photos of the day.

PostHeaderIcon Reality Is – Published by Alienskin Magazine

Recently I wrote 5 interconnected short stories.  Originally I was going to release each one and get (hopefully) 5 acceptances, but in the end I decided to merge all five stories with a # symbol and it grew to 500 words. The original goal was to have a common theme but write each one to exactly 100 words.  It was a test of how much of a message I could impart, and I suppose it worked because it was picked up recently by AlienSkin Magazine.  This is my second piece that has been accepted by them and I am really thrilled.  The piece should be out in their Feb/March Issue.  I’ll keep you posted, but it feels good after having so many big pieces sitting in abeyance for so long, to get some posative feedback.
